Ian graduated in Civil Engineering in 1982 and has worked as a site based engineer on notable national civil engineering projects such as the Heathrow Terminal 4 development and the Dinorwic Pumped Storage Scheme in North Wales (Electric Mountain)

To expand his knowledge and experience, he moved into the building sector of the industry in 1987, joining Walter Llewellyn and Sons as Site Manager on a contract within the Lloyds 1958 building in London. Ian moved to J A Elliott Ltd in 1988 where he worked on a number of multi-million pound commercial and domestic projects in the South East.

In 1993, following a relocation to the North West, he joined Mansell Construction Services Ltd. where he project managed a variety of new build and refurbishment schemes up to �3 million in value. Many of these schemes required careful co-ordination, to allow people to remain resident and businesses to continue trading whilst ensuring their health, safety and welfare were not compromised during the works. To accomplish this Ian has worked within comprehensive quality assurance systems and developed excellent interpersonal skills along with a detailed knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation. Such projects have included shopping centre refurbishments (Chester and Rochdale), social housing schemes (Llandudno and Chester), office refurbishments (Birkenhead and Manchester), school developments (Upton County HS) and, more recently, the reprovision of Mental Health and Learning Disability facilities within the Countess of Chester Health Park.

Ian attained membership of the Chartered Institute of Building, (MCIOB) in 1996 and membership of The Association for Project Safety in 2001.(The Association of Planning Supervisors, as was.)  IB Project Management qualified as a Chartered Building Consultancy in March 2001
