Our Story

In late 2000 Ian Bown BSc. MCIOB MaPS was presented with a significant challenge; he’d officially moved into middle age and was trying to balance life in middle management with the demands of a young family and a wife on the career trail herself; he wasn’t doing terribly well!

Advised to read 7 Habits and watch American Beauty, Ian took a couple of weeks off, after which he decided the answer was to take a chance on the world of self-employment. Having worked in the construction Industry for 20 years he knew only too well the immense end-of-job pressures and set out to deliver a service to support site managers to compile the end of job documents needed to meet legislative requirements. It worked, and for the following ten years he developed a niche for himself in delivering Health and Safety Files, Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Project Management, providing client side project management and any other work that was within his gift and within the law.

In 2011 Ian decided the time was right to develop further what he had created; as a result, IB Project Management Ltd was incorporated in September 2011.  Since this time IBPM’s regular client base has steadily increased and we are proud to support major players in the construction industry deliver their project goals. These include Esh, Grahams, Kier, Lane End Developments, McGoff, Morgan Sindall and Vinci as well as Lifeways Group which is one of the UK’s leading providers of services for people with diverse and often complex needs.
